Our Students

At HIS, our students strive to develop themselves as balanced and caring life-long learners who value knowledge and take risks, both in school and in their lives. Our students strive to develop the attributes set out in the IB Learner Profile.

Service Learning (CAS)

Students at HIS are expected to fulfil the requirements for the IB CAS program at HIS. In this program, students take responsibility for their own learning related to Creativity, Physical activity and Service learning. It is hoped that students who take part actively in this program develop valuable skills such as environmental ethics, empathy, collaboration and commitment. Students are encouraged to plan activities which they enjoy.

The Student Council (StuCo)

Our Student Council is made up of elected students who are responsible for being the liaison between their fellow students, their class representatives, and the HIS teachers and our PTA. The President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Public Relation Officers are the guardians of our school spirit. They also organize social events for all to enjoy such as movie nights, proms and games, and help raising money for charity. They have a say in many aspects of our school life, and occasionally directly supervise activities with teachers.

Model United Nations (MUN)

We offer the Model United Nations Club, which helps students develop skills in diplomacy, writing, public speaking and collaboration. Students work on improving their formal language and debate skills so that they can take part in a Model United Nations even at the end of the year. Not only do students tackle real-world issues such as conflict resolution, poverty, environmental issues and human rights, but they have great fun doing it, and make new friends.in the process.

The IB Learner Profile

All of our teaching aspires to recognise and foster the development of the ten attributes of the IB Learner Profile. We hope our students come to understand that these inherently human qualities are not something they must strive to become, rather they are qualities that we develop as we learn more about oursleves and the world we live in.
