Middle Years Programme (MYP)
At HIS, students in grades 6 through 10 undertake the Middle Years Programme, which is designed to meet the needs of students aged 11 to 16 as they undertake an important period of their lives, marked by rapid physical and mental development.
HIS was granted full authorization to deliver the Middle Years Programme in 2017, providing an important link and a continuum of learning from the Primary Years Programme to the Diploma Programme.
The MYP framework emphasizes contextual, conceptual and inquiry-based learning and promotes the development of skills for lifelong learning and success in our world.
Students who participate in the MYP develop an understanding of global challenges and take principled action.
As the middle programme of the IB, our MYP students continue to build on the knowledge, skills and attitudes that they developed in the Primary Years Programme while at the same time prepare for the demands of the Diploma Programme.

ASSESSMENT AND REPORTING
In the MYP teachers are responsible for developing all assessment tasks, strategies and tools. As such assessment in the MYP is best described as internal.
Assessment in the MYP is criterion-related and directly linked to the aims and objectives of the subject groups. In order to provide meaningful feedback, teachers use a range of assessment strategies.
Student progress towards the MYP objectives is reported regularly using the prescribed subject-group assessment criteria.
Also three-way conferences, Semester reports, and grades accessible online mean that parents are well informed of their child's progress.
